Our most visited page "Trams of the World" (see "Trams der Welt" in the menu on the left) has returned after a long absence. Peter Sohns offers this list also in MS access format. His database is called "World 's Database" and includes opening dates, remarks and also lists all abandoned systems from around the world! He is also selling excellent trackmaps from systems around the world. You can contact him by email.

If you want to find out about tramway events visit the German "BS Terminkalender" (in the menu on the left), that column also includes links to German tramway museums (and there is even a list of museums around Germany).

In 2010 INTRA EXPRESS is again organising our tram tours. Hope to see you there!
Even if tramway systems in Italy develop slower than in France or in Spain, four Italian cities have opened new trams since our previous great Italian tour in 1994 after all. A fifth has opened a Translohr type "tram on rubber tyres", and a sixth should have opened one more classic tramway before our tour date. As the existing systems have changed over the passed 16 years as well, we think it is time to visit Italy again. On this great rail (and ferry) tour of the whole country - including the islands of Sicily and Sardinia - we are going to see all of its old, and new tramway systems, but also many of its famous historic cities. All Italian underground railways are on our schedule, too. Concerning trolleybuses we had to make some concessions as there are simply too many of them in Italy to be visited on one tour. We nevertheless see five samples of "classic" trolleybuses (in cities that also operate trams), plus the two new Translohr systems of Mestre, and Padova. By train from Munich, € 1,980.00.
The second in our series of Polish tramway tours takes us to the Southeast of the country, featuring three extensive standard gauge systems at Katowice, Krakow, and Wroclaw. Once again we have chartered several heritage trams, see a great variety of old and new types of vehicles in regular service, and visit all depots not to miss any of the interesting works cars rarely to be seen on the lines. By train from Dresden, € 595.00.
Melbourne's tramway system is now the World's biggest, featuring a varied fleet including the last more than 50-year-old class W bogie trams as well as modern Combino and Citadis low-floor-cars. Sydney and Adelaide operate modern light rail lines, while an exceptionally great number of heritage tramways, and tramway museums all over Australia and neighbouring New Zealand keeps the memory of a rich tramway history in both countries alive. On this unique tramway tour of Downunder we become acquainted with all that, as well as with culture, cities, and nature of two great countries. A two-day stopover in Hongkong helps to make the long flight tolerable, and shows us another unique tramway with old-fashioned double-decker cars, but also modern light rail, and one of the World's most effective Metro systems. By air from Frankfurt, € 3,950.00.
